For example Icebreaker, Haglöfs, Patagonia, VAUDE or the Swedish brand Fjällräven are reckoned the pioneers for sustainability and are the perfect examples of how social responsibility can be part of the successful business plan. From the first stage of production till the end, environmental protection and fair work conditions are the main focus. Before the first stage of production is finished, the brand takes major steps to fulfill social responsibility and guarantees of fair work conditions and safety at workplace. Therefore Patagonia products are manufactured under fair, legal and human conditions. Keeping this standard, the brand screens all new factories and suppliers for social and environmental compliance with local laws and union contracts.

Social Responsibility: WITHOUT CHEMICALS INTO THE FUTURE

Whether a product is made of down, cotton or merino wool the socially responsible brands takes care of a non-chemical and conservative production. The sports equipment manufacturer VAUDE has been fighting against using chemicals like ‘’polyvinyl chloride” (PVC), which is known for being harmful to humans and animals. The brand aims to totally erase this chemical from all VAUDE’s products.

Since 2014 Patagonia only uses biological down feathers for its products with a clear proof of its origin. Cotton, merino wool or hemp also come from ecological farms. These outdoor brands set a high standard of quality and an appeal to everybody’s conscience.

The philosophy of many sports brands has changed the last few years. Quality, traceability, environmental health and social responsibility have become more important than ever before. If you want to put your products on the market and promote nature at the same time, at first place you have to protect it and preserve it. Recycling or dealing with secondhand products is just some more examples how to get on the right track.

Sport Conrads carries the following brands focusing on social responsibility: the swedish brands Haglöfs and Fjällräven. Moreover Keen, Black Diamond, Ortovox and Osprey. Besides the brands  Picture and Icebreaker Merino stand for a sustainable production of outdoor equipment.
