Innovation leader from Spain

Especially in the outdoor industry, environmental protection must be taken seriously; after all, nature is the playground for outdoor athletes. That's why Buff wants to lead the way as an innovation leader and initiated the "Do more now" programme in 2020. On the one hand, the brand relies on innovative manufacturing processes and sustainable materials: for example, it only uses certified Repreve® synthetic fibres, which are obtained from recycled plastic bottles, and merino wool from species-appropriate farming. On the other hand, Buff is increasingly committed to environmental protection. Local and global environmental projects of the EOCA (European Outdoor Conservation Association) are supported. Buff also founded the "Alliance for the World" campaign together with UNICEF and donates 2 % of the budgeted profit to support social projects in Syria and Senegal as well as Humanitarian Action for Children. Among other things, the donation finances hygiene products such as disinfectant gel, soap or water tanks, but also medical products. Since 2019, Buff has been certified as an ethically and socially responsible company with the SBU 21 - this internationally recognised certificate is awarded by the independent organisation Forética.

Spanish roots

The birth of Buff® was an act of sheer necessity. The founder, Joan Rojas needed something to protect his throat and neck from wind and cold during his motorcycle tours. In Spain in 1991, the first functional straightforward neck scarf came into being – named Buff®. At first, the straightforward neck scarf was only used by acquaintances and relatives. Today, however, functional straightforward neck scarfs are all over the place and come in all kinds of colors and materials.
