Planting trees & growing together

Plant trees instead of driving

Get out, get involved, make a difference - that's exactly what we do at Sport Conrad. With the Community Days 2025, we invite you to get active with us: For the mountain forest, for climate protection, for a strong community.

On 21 September 2025, we will be planting trees together, caring for the protective forest and experiencing nature with all our senses - right on our doorstep in Oberammergau. Whether you're an outdoor fan, family or colleague - everyone can help. Because real climate protection is teamwork.

Our campaigns take place in collaboration with the Oberammergau Private Forest Community (PWG) and local partners - as part of our sustainability initiative Wir denken um. Instead of anonymous carbon offsetting, we focus on tangible projects on site: with 4,000 seedlings and many helping hands for a common goal.

Act regionally - take responsibility

Cooperation instead of compensation

Many companies offset their emissions through international climate protection projects - an important step in global climate protection. At Sport Conrad, we go one step further: as a fourth-generation family business, we want to take responsibility where we are at home - in the Alpine region.

Since the 2019/2020 financial year, we have been systematically recording our CO₂e emissions with the aim of continuously reducing our ecological footprint. While we offset remaining emissions in the past, since 2023 these funds have been channelled into specific local projects that strengthen climate protection, environmental education and regional resilience.

This is why we deliberately avoid labels such as ‘climate neutral’ - and instead focus on long-term partnerships and active participation.

For example, with the Oberammergau Private Forest Community (PWG): In 2022, we organised our first planting day at the Laber together with the PWG and many volunteers - a complete success that shows how meaningful and unifying practical climate protection can be. We are expanding this cooperation in 2025 - and you can be part of it.

Why is forestry and reforestation so important?

Forests do far more than just bind CO₂: They protect against erosion, avalanches and extreme weather, regulate the water balance, ensure biodiversity and provide us with clean air and fresh water.

In short: forests are our livelihood - and a key in the fight against the climate crisis. That's why we invest not only in protective measures, but also in understanding ecological relationships - by doing, experiencing and learning together in the middle of the mountain forest.

Who do we carry out the reforestation with?

The private forestry co-operative operates according to the principles of sustainability and has been PEFC-certified since 2005. Further information is available from the private forestry community.

Be part of the Community Day

With the Community Day on 21 September 2025, we are bringing together stakeholders from the region to shape a more sustainable future together. There will also be exciting insights into the forest ecosystem from forester Ferdinand Roesler and hunter Dominik Rödel. Young helpers can also lend a hand at any time and plant their own trees.
