Plant trees instead of driving
Dear Sport Conrad Community, we are delighted to be working with you again. In May 2024 we did a lot of reforestation in Oberammergau together with the Private Forest Community (PWG) and many volunteers. On 22 September 2024, we'll return to Oberammergau to reforest, exchange ideas and get active. True to the motto "Plant trees instead of driving".
Programme
Start: 9 a.m At the premises of the Oberammergau private forest community, Ludwig-Lang-Straße 63, 82487 Oberammergau.
Program Sequence:
> Introduction to the process, operation, local forestry, history, information on geology and the protective forest
> Hike uphill. Information about forestry, mountain protection & hike along the Laine (stream), and information about flood protection.
> Continue hiking to the forest, where we will reforest together
> Every participant plants as many trees as possible. Seedlings are prepared and on-site
You should bring the following equipment with you: sturdy shoes, hiking gear, a rain jacket, gloves if necessary, a water bottle, sun protection; We take care of everything else.
#GrowingTogether: Join our Community Day
The Community Day on 5 May 2024 will bring together local stakeholders to build a more sustainable future. This time, under the motto #GrowingTogether, everyone can join in and plant trees with us. There will also be exciting insights into the forest ecosystem from forester Ferdinand Roesler and hunter Dominik Rödel. There will also be a children's programme for the little helpers. From 16.30, all helpers will be treated to a Bene pizza.

Meeting point: Oberammergau forest community (PWG) hut
Program: Hike on the Altherrenweg with the rangers of the Oberammergau Nature Park. We find out what the regional mountain mixed forest of the future will look like, how it protects us from dangers, and who inhabits it. > Take bus 9606 from Garmisch (GAP train station) via Oberau (train station) to Obermammergau (Aufackerstraße) in 33 minutes. Then 8 minutes walk.
> Parking spaces are available at the Laber Bergbahn for carpoolers.
Cooperation rather than compensation
It is common business practice to offset greenhouse gas emissions through carbon offsetting projects around the world. However, as a fourth-generation family business, we want to show more personal responsibility and transparency. Since the 2019/2020 financial year, we have been calculating our CO2e emissions with the central aim of continuously reducing our ecological footprint. While we have so far offset our remaining emissions, from 2023 we will invest our CO2e offsetting payments in local projects that strengthen climate protection and environmental education in our home country. Since then, we have refrained from using labels such as "climate neutral" and have focused on cooperation rather than compensation.
This includes our collaboration with the Oberammergau Private Forest Community (PWG). As part of our We Think About Day in May, we supported the PWG in reforesting the local forest on the Laber and learned how much fun climate protection can be. We want to intensify this cooperation with the PWG in 2024 and you can be part of it!
Why are forestry and reforestation so important?
Forests provide us with clean water, fresh air and help keep our climate in balance. This is because they absorb carbon dioxide. When they are cut down, greenhouse gases are released. Forests also protect against erosion, floods, droughts, rock falls and avalanches.
Who does the reforestation?
The private forestry cooperative operates according to the principles of sustainability and has been PEFC certified since 2005.
