Why is Osprey a WIR DENKEN UM brand?
Osprey's sustainability efforts began in 1974 when the company developed the first backpack designed specifically for durability. As a WIR DENKEN UM brand, Osprey stands out in the following ways:
- Osprey is a bluesign® System Partner and is committed to responsibility throughout the supply chain
- Its products are manufactured in an environmentally friendly and resource-saving manner
- Osprey has been awarded the Leader status of the Fair Wear Foundation and is a member of the Sustainable Apparel Coalition
Osprey: Companion in all the adventures of life
Osprey backpacks are designed to accompany their wearers on all of life's adventures. They help keep less waste out of landfills. The company's All Mighty Guarantee ensures that backpacks can be repaired wherever possible to extend their life. Through a Second Life programme, Osprey makes used backpacks fit for new adventures. To date, Osprey has prevented over 9,739 kilograms of waste! One of the latest milestones on the path to greater sustainability is the increased use of recycled materials from both consumer and production waste. Today, 95% of products are made with recycled main material and 95% of products have bluesign certified material in the main fabric. In addition, as of 2022, Osprey will no longer use harmful PFC/PFAS finishes in the DWR treatment of its main fabrics. Osprey is also committed to environmental protection and is a member of the EOCA organisation.
A long tradition: 50 years of Osprey
From the very beginning, everything at Osprey has revolved around the desire to develop innovative backpacks and carrying systems that meet the highest standards. In 1974, Osprey refined its first backpack models, establishing a tradition of meticulous craftsmanship. Half a century later, Osprey is as excited as ever to inspire outdoor enthusiasts on their next mountain hike, snow adventure, MTB outing or morning run. Here's to the next 50 years of limitless possibilities and adventure!
