The CONradl Bike Boutique: More than just a bike store

Are you looking for a new mountain or gravel bike or are you still missing the right equipment for your next tour? Does your bike finally need a service or repair? Or do you simply want to meet new people who are just as passionate about biking as you are? In any case, CONradl is the right place for you. A conversation with Meik Müller, manager of CONradl.

BIKE STORE, repairSHOP AND CAFÉ

Sport Conrad’s new bike boutique is not just another bike store. CONradl combines a bike store, repairshop and café all year round, is the place to go for all things bike-related and a new meeting point for the local bike community. You should feel at home here and spontaneously stay a little longer.

Café feeling with the right bike flair

For example, on the terrace, where you can enjoy a few rays of sunshine, a tasty snack or a cup of coffee. It’s quite possible that it suddenly feels a bit metropolitan here. Because with its stylish Italian designer furniture and Scandi-style wooden interior, CONradl has a look that you would expect to find in a metropolis like Copenhagen or London.

Meik Müller, who runs CONradl, has been familiar with the cycling scene in the region for over 30 years. He is convinced that the CONradl concept can close a gap:

“The overall package as we offer it here is currently unique in the region. Hans Conrad told me at the very first meeting: We’re making a bike boutique! And that’s exactly how it turned out. It has nothing to do with a classic bike store that is completely full.”

Individual advice and self-service are a top priority

What immediately catches the eye in the boutique is the central measuring station. So why not take some time to have your bike individually fitted to you? First, a few relevant measuring points are taken. While your bike is being measured and adjusted, you can relax and explore the fine selection of the latest bike clothing styles in the store. Or the right accessories such as backpacks, helmets or glasses to complete your look.

The repairshop is just one door away from the boutique and looks just as chic. Here, Meik and his four employees take care of repairs, bike service, bike leasing and wheel building.
If you prefer to do it yourself instead, there is a repair and cleaning station outside that is accessible at all timesincluding a bike pump and standard tools.

SOCIAL MEETING POINT FOR ALL THINGS BIKE

Meik used to be a triathlete and is originally from North Rhine-Westphalia. Today, he prefers to ride his mountain bike. Even as a child, he was sure that he would one day live in the mountains. He moved to Murnau over thirty years ago. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, where the mountains are right on his doorstep, with CONradl, he now has his eye on mountain bikers and gravel bikers in particular.

He wants to establish his CONradl Bike Café as a meeting point for a regular MTB Social Ride. We also start the GAP Pub Bike Ride here. On these free tours with local guides, participants not only enjoy the sport in a sociable atmosphere, but also have the opportunity to test the latest equipment from renowned brands free of charge.

Another focus of the boutique: sharing knowledge about bikes

CONradl also aims to be a platform for sharing knowledge about bikes. With workshops and event series such as the “Tech Talks”. On Saturdays, you can learn everything you need to know about a relevant topic, such as puncture protection or bikepacking, by talking to experts. The workshop series started with a “Tech workshop for women”.
The aim is to break down fears of handling your own bike. To ensure that you feel confident enough after the workshop to handle small repairs yourself, such as changing tires or installing and removing wheels.

Meik wants to offer customers and the entire community real added value with CONradl. He is highly motivated about the future:

“Our goal is for CONradl to become the meeting point for everything to do with bicycles in the area. We want to be number one for people when it comes to cycling.”
