When a ski brand has been shaping winter sports for 80 years, it’s about far more than technology alone. It’s about vision, the courage to innovate, and a deep connection to the mountains. Elan, founded in 1945 in Begunje, Slovenia, celebrates exactly this anniversary – looking back with pride, but above all looking confidently toward the future.
FROM A SMALL WORKSHOP TO A GLOBAL SKI BRAND
What began as a small workshop in the Slovenian Alps has grown into one of the most award-winning ski brands in the world. Over generations, Elan has helped shape skiing while remaining true to a core principle:
Every Elan ski is still 100% made in the Alps – from the very first design sketch to the final finish, all at a single location.

This consistency is rare in the ski industry and is a defining characteristic of Elan. Keeping development, design, and production close together ensures not only exceptional quality, but also fast and focused innovation cycles.
INNOVATIONS THAT CHANGED SKIING
Few brands stand for true milestones in ski construction like Elan. Most notably:
- Elan SCX – the world’s first carving ski
A revolution that changed skiing forever. Modern ski technology as we know it still carries this DNA today.
- Elan Voyager – the first foldable all-mountain ski
A perfect example of how Elan continues to push boundaries and develop new solutions for modern skiers.
The goal has always been clear:
“To make every skier better.”
– regardless of skill level or terrain.

COMMITMENT TO THE NEXT GENERATION
For its 80th anniversary, Elan proves that responsibility doesn’t stop at product development. By donating 80 pairs of race skis to young athletes of the Slovenian Ski Association, the brand sends a strong signal in support of youth development.
Especially in competitive skiing, early support is crucial – and this is exactly where Elan sees its role. Because only with enthusiasm, encouragement, and long-term perspectives will skiing continue to thrive in the future.
That’s also why we’re especially proud to have Elan as a partner in our Ski Local for Free initiative.

80 YEARS – AND FAR FROM QUIET
Today, Elan is a global brand – yet its heart still beats in the Slovenian Alps. This is where skis will continue to be made that inspire emotion, push boundaries, and make skiers better on the mountain.
For us at Sport Conrad, Elan stands for everything we love about skiing:
passion, innovation, responsibility – and a genuine love for the mountains.
Here’s to the next 80 years.
