What is GORE-TEX INFINIUM™?
Unlike GORE-TEX, GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ focuses on insulation, comfort and function. GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ is am membrane that protect your body from the cooling wind, the so-called windchill effect. The wind density of the textile is measured by the amount of air that passes through the material in litres per square metre and per second. Because even on sunny days, the wind can be quite uncomfortable and cause your body temperature to drop quickly. However, if you do start to sweat, the membrane ensures that the sweat is quickly wicked to the outside. The resulting water vapour can escape through the billion of pores.
The membrane has also a water-beading function. That does not mean that GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ apparel are fully waterproof, but they can easily withstand light shower. Some GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ jackets are insulated to keep you warm and comfortable for longer. This highly functional technology is not only found in jackets and pants, but also in gloves and shoes. GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ apparel
The breathable GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ membrane offers a water-beading surface and protects you from both: Light winds and gale-force storm. The apparel is also very breathable, as perspiration is wicked away in the form of water vapour through the protective membrane. In addition to GORE-TEX INFINIUM™, GORE TEX products also have other features. The best-known technology is probably GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ WINDSTOPPER. Fabrics equipped with this membrane are also completely windproof, very breathable and water-repellent. The products can also be extremely lightweight or insulated and are perfect for everyday wear as well as for exercise and sports. The pores of the membrane are 900 times larger than the water vapour molecules that are produced when you sweat and ensure that the moisture is easily released to the outside. Clothing with additional insulation also protects you from the cold.
Outdoorjackets and pants. In outdoor jackets and pants, often only the areas that are easily attacked by the wind are equipped with the membrane.
GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ gloves
GORE-TEX INFINIUM™ gloves are equipment with the Windstopper technology or with Stretch technology.
