Even under continuous rain, the membrane ensures that all body moisture escapes to the outside. This is because the highly breathable membrane allows the body to regulate its temperature during intense exertion, such as climbing or mountaineering. On the other hand, during rest phases, e.g. at the belay station or when putting on the climbing skins, the heat is kept on the body. This creates an effective microclimate for constantly changing load and rest phases. How is GORE-TEX® Pro constructed?

GORE-TEX® Pro is a 3-layer construction. At its heart is the GORE-TEX® Pro membrane. Specially processed membranes are used here that offer high strength. Consisting of different, completely ePTFE-based microstructures. This is firmly bonded to the upper material and a robust and specially woven inner lining developed by GORE-TEX. The upper is highly durable and abrasion resistant.

By using a lighter, spun-dyed lining material and scorching a 30-denier outer fabric, the technology provides even less weight.

Depending on which technology in which parts of a apparel is needed, manufactures can combine the individual components to achieve the best possible comfort and performance for the intended use. For example, the shoulder and arm areas are equipped with more freedom of movement (stretch), the elbow areas are equipped with more abrasion resistance (most rugged) and the torso is improved by increased breathability (most breathable).
