K2 Disruption Ski

The K2 Disruption Ski-Line

K2 has a long history of going against the grain and innovating skis for all the world to follow. Skis that have pushed boundaries, experimented with shape and technology, and flat out rip. When it came time to innovate Piste Performance and All-Mountain categories, K2 went back to outer space and changed the game yet again. The result was DISRUPTION, with Dark Matter Damping for drastically improved edge contact for a smoother, more planted arc in hard snow. Introducing the DISRUPTION Collection 22/23.

DISRUPTION: OUTER SPACE MEETS COOL PERFORMANCE PERFORMANCE

50 years ago the first human landed on the moon. Discovery, courage, and the best materials available were critical to this extraordinary achievement. An unconditional belief in being able to make a difference, to redefine boundaries, if necessary to go beyond them – all this was and is necessary when new paths are taken.

But what does the moon landing have to do with the new Ski-Line Disruption or skiing in general? This time, the US traditional house K2 leaves familiar and familiar freeride terrain and dedicates itself to the maximum performance on the slopes. K2 wants to bring its high-end ski technology on the slopes of the world with the new Disruption Line. Disruption stands for wanton destruction – K2 wants to break existing structures so that something new can emerge.

The inspiration for the skis was born with the idea to experience the feeling of centrifugal forces on skis and to bring run for run skiing precise performance and maximum fun on the snow… and that without relevance of World Cup points and podiums. With the Disruption Ski-Line there are no more excuses for off-days – days without fresh snow are literally “snow from yesterday” – not every day is a powder day. Moving on from the philosophy of the K2 Disruption and on to the Hard Facts.

DEVELOPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY

High technical standards for tremendous driving pleasure and safe snow fun – a matter of course for the employees of K2. That’s why Disruption also worked with a strong team of developers from active and former athletes to build the best and most optimal skis possible for any piste situation. One of the ski-line’s leading developers and pioneers is Warner Nickerson, a former US ski racer and K2 skier. Athlete – he performed the strongest in the disciplines slalom and giant slalom and thus brings a lot of experience into the development of the disruption.

The center technology of the Disruption Ski series is the term Dark Matter Damping (DMD). Behind that there is a newly developed technology that places an innovative material sandwich of cushioning material and carbon along the edges. DMD is there to reduce vibration on the ski and thus provide optimal edge contact in icy, hard snow. The thus obtained better grip on the slopes offers maximum control. Thus, the ski can be even more heavily loaded and unleashed in curves like never before.

In addition, the new I-Beam technology was installed. It is the driver of a fundamental stability and precision. Depending on the model of the Disruption collection, Carbon I-Beam or Titanal I-Beam is used. In both cases, the technology provides more stability, precision and energy transfer over the entire ski length.

Lastly, Power Wall technology ensures direct and optimal power transmission. These are reinforced sidewalls, which are processed at the height of the ski center on both sides in the wood core.

THE MEN’S MODELS

THE LADIES ‘MODELS

For more than 20 years, the K2 Women’s Alliance has been designing, developing and testing ski and snowboard equipment that is specifically tailored to female winter athletes and meets the toughest demands. This unique, international group of ladies positions itself confidently and self-determined in the market and with their shared passion changes how women are perceived on and off the slopes.

Perfect with the right shoe

Less is more. K2’s prize winning Powerlite Shell makes K2 ski boots undeniably top notch in terms of substantial weight reduction and quick entry comfort even in the freezing cold. Powerlite technology uses four different stiffnesses of TPU while maintaining the same strong power transfer. Full heat moldability allows for a perfect fit even for ski boot-sensitive feet. And pre-mounted Grip Walk outsoles minimize the risk of slipping.
