LEKI Griffin Pro & Airfoil 3D Trigger: poles and gloves put to the test

Direct contact, reliable power transfer, and warm hands – especially on cold, windy days, this is when you really notice how well glove and pole work together. We tested the LEKI Griffin Pro ski glove and the LEKI Airfoil 3D Trigger pole on the slopes under real winter conditions and put LEKI’s setup to the test.

TEST CONDITIONS: HARD, COLD, WINDY

Testing took place exclusively on groomed slopes, ranging from freshly prepared corduroy to hard, compact snow. Temperatures were around –14 °C, combined with strong winds in the upper sections. Exactly the kind of conditions where equipment has to perform – without compromise in terms of control, warmth, or comfort.

LEKI GRIFFIN PRO – SPORTY FIT WITH EXCELLENT FEEL

From the moment you put them on, it’s clear: the Griffin Pro is designed for skiers who like things sporty and precise. The glove fits snugly without pressing or restricting. We were particularly impressed by the neoprene cuff at the wrist. It adapts flexibly, creates a clean seal, and still allows full freedom of movement at the wrist.

Even after several hours on the slopes, comfort remains high. Hands feel relaxed, fingers stay mobile – no numbness, no uncomfortable tightness, even during long descents.

Direct grip feel

On the pole, the Griffin Pro delivers a very direct grip feel. Contact is clearly perceptible, and power transfer during pole use is precise. Especially during fast, sporty turns, the glove provides a high level of confidence and control – exactly what you want on hard-packed slopes.

Warmth & climate

Despite the low temperatures, the glove surprises with strong thermal performance. Even at higher intensity, the climate inside the glove remains pleasantly dry. Hands don’t cool down during lift rides – a big plus for long ski days in sub-zero conditions.

LEKI AIRFOIL 3D TRIGGER – LIGHT, STABLE AND COMFORTABLE

The Airfoil 3D Trigger pole accompanies us throughout the entire day on the slopes – from short, quick turns to long carving arcs. In hand, the pole feels light and well-balanced, with calm and controlled swing behavior.

Thanks to the Airfoil construction, impacts and vibrations are noticeably dampened, which is especially beneficial on hard slopes. The ride feel remains smooth and comfortable even during sporty turns.

Trigger system in real-world use

The Trigger system proves to be absolutely reliable in everyday use.
Clicking in is intuitive and quick, unclipping just as easy – even while wearing gloves. While skiing, the connection always feels secure. We never had the sensation of losing the pole or accidentally releasing it.

The biggest advantage becomes apparent in the details: the connection between hand and pole is direct and stable, with precise power transfer. At the same time, everyday handling – for example on chairlifts or during short breaks – is uncomplicated and comfortable.

TOGETHER AS A SYSTEM: GRIFFIN PRO & AIRFOIL 3D

It’s only when glove and pole are combined that their strengths really shine.
The Griffin Pro fits perfectly into the Trigger system, with immediate and secure contact. The flexible construction of the pole ideally complements the sporty character of the glove, resulting in a harmonious, controlled ride feel – even on hard, icy slopes at –14 °C.

CONCLUSION: A SPORTY SETUP FOR GROOMED SLOPES

The combination of the LEKI Griffin Pro glove and the LEKI Airfoil 3D Trigger pole is clearly aimed at active, sporty skiers who spend their time on groomed slopes and value precision, control, and comfort.

Direct power transfer, convincing thermal performance, and a very well-balanced interaction make this setup a reliable companion for cold, intensive ski days.
