Ortovox Safety Academy climbing courses

The Ortovox Safety Academy is the world’s largest avalanche safety training initiative. However, Ortovox does not only want to guarantee safety on the mountain in winter but also in summer. Through the cooperation with more than 30 mountain schools, the Safety Academy, therefore, offers a variety of climbing courses for beginners and advanced climbers in Germany, Austria, Italy, and Switzerland. In the two-day Alpine Climbing Basic course, you will learn the basics of alpine climbing. You should already have some basic knowledge and skills of indoor climbing to be able to participate. In the course, you will not only get a lot of useful know-how, but you will also learn lead and follow climbing, various knotting techniques, proper abseiling and useful climbing techniques. Afterward, you should be ready to master your first easy alpine climbing routes independently and safely. The course costs 270 € per person – exclusive accommodation and meals.

In the three-day Alpine Climbing Advanced course, your knowledge and skills will be further enhanced. Among other things, you will learn the correct use of wedges and clamps, and will be able to master long, multi-pitch routes on your own. The course costs 360 € per person (exclusive accommodation and meals).

In Germany, Austria, Italy and Switzerland climbers can participate in various climbing tours and workshops and choose between three levels of difficulty: “easy”, “medium” and “demanding”. SAAC climbing camps

In addition to the popular avalanche safety courses in winter, the SAAC mountain guides also offer climbing camps in summer. In the one and a half day camps in Austria, you first learn the necessary theory around safety, climbing equipment, and alpine hazards, before going to practice in the climbing garden. Among others you learn various belaying techniques, partner check, lead climbing, rope deflection, abseiling and safe falling.

Like the SAAC Basic Camps in winter, the climbing camps are for free. With only 8 people per guide and a maximum group size of 32 people per appointment, you need to sign up early enough to secure your place.
