HEAD focuses on good vibrations with the new, unique EMC technology
EMC – behind these three letters lies the highlight of the new collection: the “Energy Management Circuit”. The aim of this new technology is to make the ski even smoother and more stable.
But how does this new wonder from the engineers at HEAD work?
To do so, they have taken all their many years of experience in the field of piezoelectronics together and thus created a revolutionary new system. Within the EMC technology, ceramic piezo plates are incorporated into the ski in order to convert the kinetic energy generated by vibrations, bending and twisting during the ride into electrical energy. These forces then ensure that negative, disturbing vibrations are absorbed. This makes it much easier for you to control the ski.
What does that mean in detail?
The way EMC work is based on the physical principles of piezoelectronics. The ceramic piezo elements that HEAD installs in front of and behind the binding of the skis are responsible for converting the kinetic energy generated by vibrations into electrical energy. This generated electrical energy moves in an oscillation range of 60-80Hz. It is precisely this vibration range that is responsible for unpredictable micro-vibrations during the ride. The electrical vibrations are conducted directly through the ski after they have been generated and met a resistor that has the purpose of removing precisely these disturbing frequencies from the ski. Vibrations are thus specifically filtered and the ski is actively calmed without losing its lively character.
Which HEAD Skis include the EMC technology?
Firstly, the Supershape series has been completely redesigned and, in addition to the new look and shape, also has the innovative EMC system on board. For the Racing line, the former world-cup athlete and two-times Olympic champion Aksel Lund Svindal was our godfather and therefore heavily involved in the design and development process. In addition to the changes in the Race Department (EMC), Rebels Skis (EMC) and Supershapes, adjustments were also made in the women’s series. The Power Joy, a high-quality and very sporty women’s ski, stands out from the series – not only because it is the only ski in this collection to use EMC technology. This means that EMC can be found throughout the highest-quality models in the new HEAD ski collection and will help you to consistently deliver your best performance.
