The Dynafit Ultra 100 V3 was put to the test, a trail running shoe specifically designed for long distances and ultra runs. It features a cushioning SPEEDFOAM Cushion midsole that delivers excellent comfort, combined with stabilising elements that provide a secure and supportive fit. The Vibram Megagrip outsole with traction lugs ensures reliable grip, while the breathable upper made with recycled materials rounds off the overall design.

DYNAFIT 100 V3 – QUICK SUMMARY

  • Comfortable yet controlled trail running shoe
  • Balanced cushioning with a smooth ride feel
  • Strong grip across a variety of surfaces
  • Secure feel on trails, gravel paths and during uphill efforts
  • Excellent traction even when not running, for example when pushing a stroller uphill

Note on context: This test was carried out under specific conditions, as an injury prevented testing on very long, highly technical or fast sessions. The focus was therefore more on versatile trail and hiking use. Perception of cushioning may also vary depending on individual running style.

TEST CONDITIONS

  • Test period: 5 months
  • Terrain: road, gravel, forest paths, easy to moderate trails and snow
  • Distance: up to around 15 kilometres per session
  • Not a focus: highly technical or very rocky trails
  • Additional use: hiking and pushing a Thule child trailer uphill

DETAILED IMPRESSION OF THE DYNAFIT 100 V3

Cushioning and Ride Feel:

The cushioning feels well balanced and delivers a comfortable ride without feeling overly soft. The shoe remains responsive enough to maintain a good sense of ground feel while avoiding harshness. Transitions feel smooth and natural. The rocker is not overly pronounced, but the Dynafit 100 V3 performs well on descents and remains easy to control.

Grip and Traction:

This is where the Dynafit 100 V3 really stands out. The Vibram Megagrip outsole provides excellent traction on familiar trails, gravel and even winter surfaces. Grip remained reliable on slightly icy uphill sections, especially where other shoes started to slip. Even when pushing hard uphill with additional weight, traction stayed consistently dependable.

Fit:

The fit feels right from the first step. In the forefoot, the Dynafit 100 V3 wraps the foot securely without creating pressure points. The heel area also feels stable and comfortable. Overall, the shoe offers a well-balanced combination of support, comfort and control.

Breathability and Materials:

The upper feels highly breathable and is comfortable to wear in warmer conditions. At the same time, the open construction means that moisture can enter quickly when running through puddles or deeper mud. This is a clear advantage in dry to moderate conditions, but something to keep in mind in wet environments.

Intended Use:

In my view, the Dynafit 100 V3 is best suited for runners who are looking for comfort and control on moderately technical trails. It works well for both beginners and more experienced runners who stick to familiar routes and want a reliable all-rounder for mixed terrain. For very technical or very rocky trails, I would personally opt for a more specialised model.

CONCLUSION: A VERSATILE ALL-ROUNDER FOR TRAIL RUNNING

For me, the Dynafit 100 V3 is a strong all-round trail running shoe for runners who spend time on familiar trails, gravel paths and mixed terrain. Its biggest strengths are grip, fit and a secure, controlled ride. If you are looking for a comfortable shoe for everyday trail runs and moderate mountain adventures, this model offers a very well-rounded package.

Despite the limited testing period due to injury, the shoe performed convincingly in exactly the situations where reliability matters most: while running, on uphill sections and even during more everyday mountain use with additional weight.
