Presentation by Michael Vitzthum: Ski mountaineering with public transport

Communication designer Michael Vitzthum, who lives in Munich, is a passionate outdoor athlete - and with his book "Natürlich mit Öffis!", published in 2023, he proves that mountain sports do not necessarily have to be motor sports. Using public transport to get to and from ski tours opens up new possibilities.

This means that bus and train travellers on ski and snowboard safaris can experience a completely different adventure than those who have to return to their cars - and feel better about it! In the Q&A session that follows, you can ask all the questions you want! Let Michael inspire you in a good atmosphere, with cold drinks and in the company of like-minded athletes.

Houdini Repair booth

Repair instead of replace! Most items of clothing can be repaired with relatively little effort. This saves resources and money. On two dates during our WDU week, Swedish outdoor brand Houdini will do the work for you and repair your outdoor clothing free of charge.

What you need to do: Bring your washed garments in need of repair to our store on the dates specified. A maximum of two items per person will be accepted, regardless of brand. Zips can only be repaired in special cases - please talk to our repair experts!

Raffle:

Together with Houdini, we are giving away places to a Houdini Upcycling Workshop on 2 December 2023 at the Cuatro Hombres Bar in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. You will have the opportunity to create unique upcycling projects together with other participants and sewing professionals. On 18 and 24 November 2023, you can take part in the Houdini repair stand at the branches.

TECNICA Recycle Your Boots ski boot recycling

What do you do with ski boots that have outlived their usefulness? Until now, if they were disposed of correctly, they ended up in the rubbish. The result: Our rubbish heaps grow and grow. Tecninca is breaking new ground with the "Recycling Your Boots" programme from 2021. Sport Conrad customers will be able to return their discarded ski boots, regardless of brand, during the week and until the end of the season. This service is free and not linked to a purchase. Tecnica processes the used boots - for example, into components for new boots or into impact protection mats for ski resorts.

NOMOI: Giving outdoor clothing a second life

We are amazed at how quickly our second-hand concept NOMOI has taken off. More and more customers are joining in and we are happy to be able to contribute to saving resources. Join us again and help us to give well-preserved clothing a second, happy outdoor life by buying or selling it

NOMOI Skis: Brand new for the week of November 2023, we will also be selling used skis from top manufacturers at great prices for the first time. From cross-country to touring to alpine, we have everything. The skis are from our test contingent and have been carefully checked. Please note: We are currently selling NOMOI skis from our quota - unfortunately we do not accept used skis for sale!

For the first time in 2021 we started the "Wir Denken Um" week. In the midst of the Corona pandemic and a time of uncertainty, it was important for us to continue our transformation into a responsible company. The products we sell and the way we manufacture them have a significant impact on our environmental footprint.

The WDU week aims to show that conscious consumption is possible, and at the same time provide an opportunity to repair products that are already in circulation. After all, the most sustainable product is the one you already have!

Since the launch of our Wir Denken Um initiative in 2018, we have rethought, redesigned and improved many things in our business - and we all know that we cannot continue to do business as usual. Wir Denken Um is one of many ways we are working to make our business more responsible and better.

The campaign week provides a platform for manufacturers in our range who are striving to produce in a greener and fairer way. To earn our Wir Denken Um label, brands and their products must meet certain criteria. You can read about these in this article. At Sport Conrad we have also set targets for how we want our range to look in the future. The proportion of ecologically and fairly produced items should increase steadily - as a company we only want to grow in the future with a responsibly produced range.

Another important pillar of our sustainability strategy, and an integral part of WDU Week, is the provision of repair facilities and information sessions on how to properly care for sports and outdoor products, whether clothing or equipment. The longer the lifecycle of a product, the fewer resources are used and the smaller the carbon footprint. You can read more about our brands' general repair offerings in this blog post.

The third pillar of our Wir Denken Um week is working with brands and initiatives that are committed to environmental and climate protection, inclusion and the promotion of children and youth. The benefit for our customers: The initiatives can be experienced at the events and the joint activities are a lot of fun.
