That was Ski Local For Free 2026
The second round of our Ski Local For Free initiative has come to an end. This year, we once again teamed up with ski brands Fischer and Elan to support young skiers in the region. Our campaign, which ran from 14 February 2026 to 17 February, enabled around 3,050 children to hit the slopes for free.
GREAT TO HAVE YOU HERE
For the second year running, we travelled around our region to give free ski passes to the youngest members of the community. There were lots of happy faces and positive feedback from the children and their parents:
"It's great that you're doing this! We were there last year and are looking forward to next year too!"
"Thank you for this initiative! You made it possible for us to enjoy a day of skiing together as a family."
"It was my children's first day of skiing and they had a great time."
"We happened to pass by today and were looking forward to the skiing day even more."
We are delighted that you had fun and that so many of you came to our event at the ski lifts despite the snow flurries.
With this campaign, we also want to highlight the importance of small village ski lifts, as they provide children and beginners with affordable and easy access to skiing, thus laying the foundation for regional skiing.
The Ski Local For Free campaign was financed as part of our WIR DENKEN UM Week 2025. We invested 1% of our weekly turnover in ski passes and, together with Fischer and Elan, provided 2,500 passes.
However, as so many of you turned up, we increased the number and issued a total of around 3,050 passes over the weekend.
The following lifts took part in our campaign:
- Reiserlift, Geißach
- Streidllift & Jaudenhang, Lenggris
- Am Ried, Farchant
- Kranzberg, Mittenwald
- Steckenberg, Unterammergau

Why we favour local ski resorts we grew up with them. We're talking about the small ski resorts in our home communities. And even today, you can still enjoy great skiing fun with a small carbon footprint in the mostly family-run ski resorts in the Bavarian Oberland, which are operated with a lot of passion.
