The Deuter Guide 42 + 6 SL is a women's-fit mountaineering backpack for extended alpine trips, mountaineering, climbing and ski touring. Its larger capacity makes it a good choice when you need to carry more gear without sacrificing freedom of movement.
The Alpine back system keeps the pack close to your body for a stable carry in demanding terrain, while channels between the back pads provide ventilation. Pivoting VariFlex hip fins and ActiveFit shoulder straps follow your movements for a comfortable fit. When climbing, the hip fins can be removed so you can combine the pack with a climbing harness.
The Guide can also be adapted to changing demands on your route. The lid and back pad are removable, and the lid can be adjusted in height. This allows you to strip the pack down or make use of the additional capacity when you need to carry more equipment. Deuter recommends a load of 8 to 15 kg.

The women-specific nature of the SL back length is already apparent in the back length: on average, women's backs are not quite as long as those of men. The carrying system of the SL models is therefore slightly shorter than that of Deuter's standard backpacks. In addition, the carrying system is specially adapted to the female anatomy.
