The Beta AR Hardshell Jacket from Arc'teryx is the most rugged model in the Beta series and is designed for demanding tours, changeable weather, and uncompromising protection on the mountain. When lashing rain, strong winds, and harsh conditions define the path to the summit, this versatile shell reliably keeps you dry and protected.

Its sophisticated hybrid construction combines various GORE-TEX PRO ePE fabrics: Areas subject to high stress, such as the shoulders, are designed to be extra durable, while weight is reduced on the torso. This creates a powerful balance of ruggedness, weather protection, and comfortable wear. The new 100- and 80-denier laminate features a durable water-repellent finish and is free of PFAS.

For alpine use, the jacket features a helmet-compatible DropHood™ hood that can be adjusted quickly and easily. Redesigned cord stoppers improve usability, while a lightweight RECCO® reflector integrated into the hood’s edge offers additional safety and makes it easier to be located in an emergency. The Beta has also been reimagined in terms of sustainability: A new pattern reduces fabric waste in the production process — saving enough fabric to make approximately 400 jackets.

Note: The new ePE membrane technology is lighter and thinner, yet just as robust and durable as the materials used previously. You may notice that the outer fabric “wets through” slightly faster on products with ePE membranes, but you can be certain that this does not affect the membrane’s waterproofness. If you notice that the fabric is getting wet faster than you’d like, simply wash the jacket and dry it to remove oil stains and fully restore the DWR.
