Get the Outfit // Cotopaxi

The Cielo Anorak is one of the highlights of Cotopaxi's new autumn and winter collection. The word anorak comes from the Inuit language. The "annuraaq" has always been used in Greenland to protect against the wind and cold. Nowadays it is usually a sort of pullover jacket with a zip and hood.

In our part of the world, the anorak has become a statement piece and can be found in the collections of various outdoor manufacturers: in light material as a windbreaker, in fleece as a warm mid-layer or cosy pullover, or even in membrane material as a rain and outdoor jacket - as in the case of Cotopaxi.

New at Sport Conrad: Cotopaxi

GUARANTEED FOR GOOD™ & Built to Last – that's what Cotopaxi stands for. We have added this exceptional outdoor brand to our portfolio for the 2023/24 Autumn/Winterseason.

The brand is built on a social business model: As a certified B Corporation, the brand donates 1% of its annual sales to the Cotopaxi Foundation. The foundation supports non-profit organisations such as the International Rescue Committee (IRC), Mercy Corps and Nothing But Nets. The aim is to empower people in Latin America through proper healthcare, education and a secure livelihood.

The brand name Cotopaxi, pronounced 'koh-to-PAK-sie', is derived from the mountain of the same name in Ecuador - the highest active volcano in the world. This played an important role in the creation of the brand, which is why the llama is also the brand's mascot.

Unique: Del Día collection

The Del Día collection uses leftover fabric from other companies. This not only makes the colourful bags eye-catching, but also helps to save resources. Each Del Día bag is unique because each seamstress chooses their own colour combination.

Cotopaxi is one of our WIR DENKEN UM brands - brands that have successfully passed an internal evaluation process at Sport Conrad. WDU brands operate responsibly, produce in an environmentally friendly manner and ensure fair production conditions throughout the supply chain. Read more about our evaluation criteria here.

Clean water on the move: Grayl Geopress

Whether we're travelling or just taking a weekend trip, we don't always have access to clean water. Even a seemingly clear mountain stream can be contaminated with bacteria from a cow pasture above. Tap water can also be a health hazard because of old pipes.

Water filters can help. The GRAYL brand specialises in filtration products for people on the move. The idea for the brand was born on a napkin in a Seattle hotel bar. The goal: portable water filters that work quickly and easily anywhere in the world.

The easy-to-use GRAYL Geopress filter bottle produces 710 millilitres of clean drinking water in 8 seconds. Four simple steps are all it takes to filter water: 1. Twist and remove the sleeve. 2. Fill the sleeve with water. 3. Open the cap to let the air out. 4. Press down the filter with your body weight. It filters out pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and protozoa and also removes heavy metals, microplastics and chemicals such as PFAS.

We have already had the opportunity to test the GRAYL Geopress filter bottle. Our colleague Victoria was particularly impressed with the ease of use. You can read the fullt review here.
