The Deuter Expedition Ultra 60 SL is an ultralight women's backpack for demanding mountaineering and expeditions where low pack weight, durability and controlled carrying of heavy equipment are essential. Its women-specific SL fit and Alpine back system are designed for a close, stable fit in technically demanding terrain.
The Alpine back system uses a permanently elastic spring steel frame to transfer the load efficiently to the body. Its close-to-body construction supports a compact fit, while channels between the back pads with breathable mesh provide ventilation. On long and demanding stages, the Expedition Ultra therefore combines stability with a construction consistently designed to minimize weight.
The Dyneema® main material is highly tear-resistant and resistant to abrasion, moisture, UV radiation and chemicals. This makes the Expedition Ultra 60 SL suitable for the high levels of material stress encountered on expeditions and demanding alpine objectives.

The women-specific nature of the SL back length is already apparent in the back length: on average, women's backs are not quite as long as those of men. The carrying system of the SL models is therefore slightly shorter than that of Deuter's standard backpacks. In addition, the carrying system is specially adapted to the female anatomy.
