What Is Touring Ski Wax and Which Brands Do We Carry?
Touring ski wax reduces friction between the base and the snow, improves glide, and protects against premature wear. There are three main types: hot wax, rub-on (cold wax), and liquid wax.
At Sport Conrad, you’ll find wax products from top brands like Toko, Holmenkol, and Swix – including fluor-free and biodegradable options.
Why Wax Your Touring Skis?
A waxed ski base isn’t just faster – it also stays in better condition over time. Snow conditions can vary dramatically during ski tours, so using the right wax gives you better glide when ascending (excluding the skin area!) and more control on the descent. Wax also protects the base from drying out and environmental damage.
Types of Wax & Application – What You Should Know
- Hot Wax is applied with a waxing iron and penetrates deep into the base – ideal for longer tours and heavy use.
- Cold Wax (Rub-on) is quick and easy to apply, making it perfect for on-the-go touch-ups or spontaneous waxing sessions.
- Liquid Wax offers quick application with solid glide performance – great for frequent users with limited time.
