More About Teva

Why is Teva a WIR DENKEN UM brand?

The company founded in 1982 is committed to ethically sourcing its materials and, in 2020, committed to reducing the brand's environmental impact. As a WIR DENKEN UM brand, Teva stands out in the following ways:

- The company is committed to accountability throughout the supply chain
- It promotes fair working conditions and conducts its own audits of production facilities
- Teva is working to reduce its environmental footprint, in which it is guided by science-based targets

Fair production for a minimal environmental footprint

Since 2020, 100 percent of all the straps have been made from verifiably recycled plastic using REPREVE® yarn. This is equivalent to more than 9 million plastic bottles that are not sent to landfills and instead used for innovative footwear.

Teva is not stopping at the straps and is also searching for sustainable alternatives for other materials used in its products. In addition, it is working to reduce water consumption and the use of packaging materials − and that's just the beginning: "We want those who come after us to have the freedom to explore the outdoors tomorrow, so we're reducing our footprint today." Teva offers different vegan models every season. At the same time, though, every piece of leather used is produced according to strict animal welfare standards. The leather is sourced from tanneries certified by the Leather Working Group. Teva supports the Better Cotton Initiative, the world's largest cotton sustainability program, and has been recognized in the Textile Exchange Leaderboard for its use of recycled polyester.
