More about Elite

Elite: tradition, passion and technology

For around 40 years, Elite has been known for producing high-quality bottle cages, drinks bottles as well as roller trainers and all kinds of accessories for the world of cycling.

The entire team of the Italian company is made up of passionate people and is deeply rooted in the region of Padua near Venice. In 2000, a former lime kiln from the 18th century was restored and renovated, which is traditionally connected to the regional craft and since its completion in 2008 it has been hosting the company's headquarters. The historic building offers space for the team of almost 70 employees around company founder Amerio Sartore.

The Paul Lange magazines visit (Elite Germany) shows that the culture of the most diverse manufactories has a far-reaching historical background in the economically strong region of Veneto. The lime kiln's geographical location has a specific reason. Like all the other kilns in this area between Bassano del Grappa and Fontaniva, it is connected directly to the Brenta River. This river rises south-east of Trento and flows through the Sugan Valley first in an easterly direction and then, from Primolano, in a southerly direction. The valley narrows there into the to the so-called Canale di Brenta. After the Southern Limestone Alps, the course continues through the Venetian plains and flows into the Adriatic Sea south of Sottomarina.

Without the Brenta, there would have been no klin industry. The river was, in a sense, the source of energy for the kilns. Raw materials such as wood and reed grass gathered along the wide riverbed and the gravel banks. In addition, the Brenta provided the necessary water to transform the hard and dusty stones into a soft and loose slaked lime mass. The resulting lime was mixed with water and sand and was used as a elementary material for building houses.

Regional development and production

What makes Elite products so unique?

Elite clearly focuses on the research and production of training wheels, bottle cages and water bottles. Nowadays, the modern male and female cyclist train on Hi-Tec home trainers, they use very light but strong bottle cages and drink from technologically advanced water bottles with high thermal performances.

"Like a sports team, we train, choose our season objectives, decide the tactics, launch our champions to win the most glaring results."

Amerigo Sartore

In the headquarters in Fontaniva, the products are developed, tested and calibrated. A large number of the parts assembled on the home trainers come from the local region, like the bottle cages, which are produced just five kilometres away using an innovative injection moulding process. The injection process used here was the first of its kind.

The work at Elite is a continuous search for new technical solutions. Through intensive exchange with professional and amateur athletes, those ideas are created which contribute to innovative products and improved performance on the bike.

Responsibility by sustainable production

The issue of sustainability is becoming more important in all aspects at Elite. In addition to mostly short and direct supply chains, Elite is optimising itself in terms of the used materials and production processes. New in the range are bottles made of plant-based polymers or stainless steel. In addition, more environmentally friendly packaging design is being introduced on an ongoing basis. For example, in order to get away from printing colours, photo printing is no longer used for the packaging of the roller trainers.

By 2022, 95 percent of Elite's parts manufacturing will take place in Italy and Croatia. The metal water bottles and holders as well as accessories for the bicycle transport come so far from China.

The Elite ecosystem

The Elite Ecosystem Elite is a collection of products and technologies designed to
to ensure a high level of interaction and thereby provide you with a more enjoyable indoor training.

Winter training is probably the biggest struggle for ambitious cyclists. The classic home trainer with manually adjustable resistance was and still is the easiest way to keep or improve the fitness level. Fun and variation were rather lacking and the long-term motivation for indoor training was more difficult to maintain than the actual training level.

Maximum immersion - What do you need for your indoor training?

1. choose your elite trainer

Direct-Drive or Wheel-On?

Basically and regardless of the functions, there is a differentiation between these two types. Wheel-On roller trainers work like classic roller trainers, the wheel including the tire is directly in contact to a small pulley. In the case of Direct-Drive roller trainers, the bike is placed on the trainer without the rear wheel. Previously, the matching cassette is mounted on the freewheel body of the direct drive. Due to their design, these trainers are more accurate in terms of analysing power and performance.

Classic home trainers such as the Elite Novo Force offer the possibility to change the resistance manually or, depending on the model, progressively through fluid.

Smart home trainers transmit the data speed and power to your device, but do not automatically control the resistance via an app. Depending on the model, the resistance is fluid or a magnetic brake, depending on the model.

Interactive home trainers like the Elite Direto XR-T connect to cycling apps like Zwift or Rouvy to automatically control the resistance and simulate the climbs on the routes in real time.

Our tip: In the case you use the same bike in winter that you ride on the roads or trails in summer, you will train highly efficiently in your usual riding position. If you still have an older road bike or mountain bike at home and you would like to train on it in your "pain cave", it is well worth adjusting all contact points (saddle and handlebar position) so that they are as identical as possible to your usual position. We recommend a bike fitting, which adjust the bike to your exact your body dimensions.

2. choose your software

By connecting the smart and interactive Elite home trainers with apps and other cycling software, increase the realism of climbs and descents as well as indoor cycling races. This improves the efficiency of your training sessions significantly.

Apps and software like Elite's My E-Training help you to improve your fitness, stamina and performance and allow you to create different structured training programmes.

In addition, all devices that have connectivity are compatible with Zwift, Rouvy, BKool, Kinomap, RGT, Fulgaz and the other available platforms. This allows you to ride together with cyclists from all over the world, participate in virtual events and indoor races, or discover new routes for training.
