Colltex: Interplay between Safety and Success
In 1968, the enthusiastic mountain sportsman Hans Fischli develops the world's first ski skin, at a time when ski tourism was developing strongly. Fuelled by the famous scene from the James Bond film shot around the Piz Gloria, ski tourists flocked to the Swiss Schilthorn. To this day, Colltex produces all its skins in Glarus, in the middle of the Swiss mountains - and feels "committed to the tradition of development, quality and social responsibility". Early on, the manufactory focused on sustainable production and recyclable materials. The only problem was the adhesives. Wool from mohair goats had long been used for the fur piles. In 1990, the new adhesive "hotmelt" was developed, the first without polluting harmful substances. In 2016, Colltex went one step further and launched "eco", the first 100% sustainable fur on the market: finest merino wool, without FC impregnation, without dyes, made with pure natural rubber and a back made of pure cotton. Even the packaging is made in an environmentally friendly way. With the possibility of re-coating, Colltex ensures that the skins remain reliable partners on the mountain for many winters to come.
