Product details: Kästle FX 106 HP 20/21 Skis

The Kästle FX106 HP is made for the backcountry and when teamed up with the FREETOUR 12 2.0 binding is also designed to be used as a touring ski. The 3D shape, triple wood core and carbon-fibreglass wrapped core of the lightweight TRI technology results in maximum transfer of power, stability and perfect float. Combined with Hollowtech 3.0 this ski raises the bar in terms of minimised weight and maximised downhill performance.

With the FX106 HP, epic lines and big drops are a breeze for Freeride World Tour Champion Lorraine Huber. This HP (high performance) ski is the weapon of choice for pros like Lorraine, from the first lift right through to the last ride of the day.

The FX models are built for the ultimate freeride experience. The 3D shape, triple wood core and carbon-fibreglass wrapped core of the lightweight TRI technology results in maximum transfer of power, stability and perfect float. Paired with Hollowtech 3.0 these skis raise the bar in terms of minimised weight and maximised downhill performance.

TRI-TECH
The TRI-TECH construction combines three innovative technologies to reduce weight while maximizing stability, power transmission and float.
3D SHAPE
By using varying thicknesses of woodcores, Kästle create contours along the length of the ski which substantially increases torsional rigidity and stability without requiring more materials.
TRIPLE WOODCORE
Kästle is the first ski manufacturer to incorporate three types of wood within one ski. Higher density woods are used for the core, with lighter woods at the sides. Combined with other technologies, this saves up to 500 g per pair of skis—a truly revolutionary feat!
1/3 WRAPPED CORE
The middle of the three woodcore strips is wrapped in a fiberglass sleeve, and for the HP models in a carbonfiberglass sleeve. The torsion box that this creates makes the ski even more stable and cuts out more weight. The sleeve also binds the center woodcore to the lightweight exterior cores, creating a supremely damp, yet responsive, ski.

ELLIPTICAL RADIUS
Each model is designed to have its own carving characteristics, which is based on the ski’s intended application, by adjusting the radius along the waist of the ski. The shape of the elliptical Radius determines how quickly and aggressively the ski enters and exits a turn.

CAMBER
Kästle build the skis with classic camber and distinguish between standard camber and low camber: With STANDARD CAMBER, the ski center is clearly elevated and the contact points to the snow are far forward and back. The effective edge is longer and the ski initiates turns more quickly and precisely. With LOW CAMBER, the ski center is slightly elevated and the contact points are moved toward
the ski center. The effective edge is consequentially less, and the ski is more playful and forgiving.

The HOOK FREE SHOVEL is a longer shovel that is often combined with Early or Progressive Rise. With this design the contact point to the snow is moved toward the center of the ski, thus ensuring a more forgiving and playful performance.

The HOOK FREE TAIL is often combined with Dual Rise and a longer tail, with the contact point being moved toward the center of the ski. The result is a forgiving, playful performance when exiting a turn.

PROGRESSIVE RISE optimizes float and easy turning in freeride conditions.

DUAL RISE technology combined with an adapted camber profile creates a ski which guarantees the best float, even in the deepest of snow, without losing responsiveness.

HOLLOWTECH
The patented, key technology is unique within the ski industry. By removing unnecessary layers at the front of the ski Kästle make the shovel lighter. This results in several advantages: Oscillation recovery is up to 30 % faster, the ski is damper, edge-grip is more powerful, turn initiations are more precise, and overall weight is reduced. The new version 3.0 of the HOLLOWTECH technology has been revolutionized: It is now even lighter and features exclusively in the FX and PX ranges.
HOLLOWTECH 3.0 is created in two layers. A new outer ring cuts out even more materials to save more weight. The size of the HOLLOWTECH is precisely matched to the shovel of each particular model – for performance that’s unbeatable!
