SALEWA ALPINE CAMPUS AT THE GROSSVENEDIGER


11-13 JULY 2025

Three days of pure mountaineering are waiting for you at the Salewa Alpine Campus ‘Hochtouren’.

You can expand your alpine knowledge in the areas of alpine tours and glaciers and then - if conditions permit - climb the Großvenediger with its 3,657 metres. Immerse yourself in the world of high mountains and gain valuable experience for future alpine adventures. Base camp is the Kuersinger hut, from where the glacier adventure begins.

Programm overview

Day 1:
> Meeting point at 08:30 am, equipment check and distribution of rental equipment
> Bus transfer to the cable car, from there you can have your luggage transported to the hut.
> Afterwards ascent to the Kuersinger hut (approx. 600 vertical metres)


Day 2:
After breakfast we start with:
> practical exercise on the glacier
> correct walking on the glacier
> ice axe technique
> tour planning
> crevasse rescue


Day 3:

If the weather conditions and the physical condition of the group allow, ascent of the Großvenediger.


With free test material from Salewa: hardshell jackets and trousers, insulation jackets, headbands, hats. These can then be purchased at a special price if you like them.


The number of participants is limited to 14, so take the opportunity and register early to secure your place!

Required equipment


Glacier equipment:

> Helmet, harness / waist belt
> Prusik slings
> webbing slings 1 x long 120 cm and 1 x short 60 cm
> 2 HMS carabiners & 2 snap carabiners
> possibly a pulley (e.g. Micro Traxion)
> 1 triple-lock carabiner
> Crampons with toggle lever, basket and anti-stud plates suitable for the shoe
> Hiking ice axe approx. 60 cm long
> Ice screw - 16 cm


Glacier equipment can be rented free of charge from Salewa with prior booking.


Clothing:
> Crampons sturdy mountaineering boots
> 2 pairs of gloves and hat
> Thermal underwear, preferably moisture-wicking synthetic fibre or merino
> Fleece
> Windstopper jacket
> Rain protection
> Functional softshell trousers

Other:
> Backpack 35-40 litres
> Hut sleeping bag
> Headlamp
> Sunglasses with side protection against sunlight
> Gaiters, depending on the trousers used
> Sun and lip protection at least SPF 30
> Drinking bottle 1 - 1.5 litres
> Tour catering, pharmacy for personal needs, toilet paper
> Identity card or passport
> if necessary pocket knife, aluminium rescue blanket, bivouac bag

> Enjoyment of movement
> Physical condition for the Großvenediger - 1200 metres in altitude and depth
