The Summit ice axe from Petzl is lightweight and has an ergonomically shaped handle, making it suitable for classic mountaineering and classic high-altitude tours.

With a weight of 360 to 400 grams, depending on the length, the Summit from Petzl is a rather light ice axe. The relatively heavy head nevertheless enables effective placement.

The Summit also has a narrow tapered pick, which ensures easy penetration into snow and ice. The wider centre means that the pick also finds a grip in softer snow. The shovel also makes it easier to hit steps. The shaft is made of very robust and light aluminium. The ergonomic handle also provides a good grip when the Summit is used as a traction pick.

Due to the additional prongs on the pick, the grip is also improved when used as a handrail pick. It can also be used as a walking stick pick. Designed for classic mountaineering, the Petzl Summit Ice Axe offers an excellent balance between price and performance.
