European Mobility Week 2024
Mobility is a basic need for citizens of all ages. But it is also a problem: motorized transport contributes significantly to climate change. Additionally, participation in mobility and the sharing of public space are often inequitable.
This is where the European Mobility Model (EMW) comes in, launched by the European Commission in 2002 to promote sustainable mobility in towns and cities. EMW aims to show that sustainable mobility improves the quality of life for everyone. It takes place every year from 16 to 22 September.
Sport Conrad is also contributing to EMV 2024 with campaigns around environmentally friendly mobility in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district.
Free basic bike check
Riding your bike instead of your car more often? It is great for your carbon footprint and your fitness! All you need is a bike that runs smoothly. To help you get through EMW 2024 without any technical problems, you can get a free basic bike check at our Garmisch-Partenkirchen store on selected dates.
Our bike mechanics check all relevant components to ensure they are working properly and safely. Repairs to faulty components are not included.

Bike repair workshop for women
Women bikers often lack the confidence to work on their bikes themselves. Our bike repair workshop is designed to give you the confidence and practical knowledge you need. You'll learn all the basics by doing - from changing a puncture to adjusting the gears.
You will be guided by our mechanic Moritz. Sign up and work on the most important skills in a relaxed and fun atmosphere in a group of ten cycling enthusiasts. Afterwards you can end the evening with a cosy get-together. Places are limited and will be drawn by lot after registration. You will be notified by email if you get a place.

Swap driving a car for planting trees
22 September is World Car Free Day - a day of action encouraging people to give up their cars. If you not only want to give up your car, but also want to do something active for climate protection, then our community day on 22 September in Oberammergau is just the thing for you.
Together with the Oberammergau private forest community and many volunteers, we will be reforesting and exploring the forest. Little helpers are also welcome and will be entertained with a children's programme!

Spoiler-Alert: Neuer Sport Conrad Bike Store
Unfortunately, we won't be able to make it to EMW in time - but we can't wait to celebrate, so we're letting the cat out of the bag: the Sport Conrad branch in Garmisch-Partenkirchen will be getting its own bike shop this autumn.
From October 2024, cyclists will find everything they desire right next to the usual Sport Conrad store. In particular, a large selection of Scott mountain and gravel bikes, clothing from well-known bike brands, and accessories. The shop is open all year round and offers a repair and bike fitting service. The store will open in mid-October. More information about the new bike shop in Garmisch will follow.

Shared Public Spaces
This year's theme is "Shared Public Spaces",
i.e. the sharing of street space. The background: Unfortunately, road space in
Germany is not distributed fairly - studies such as the one conducted by the
Technical University of Berlin have shown that motorised individual transport
is preferred.
New concepts could distribute road space more
equitably, promote inclusion and equal opportunities, contribute to road safety
and strengthen community coexistence. Think utopian: What if communities and
cities were designed for people - from young to old - rather than for cars?

Into the mountains in an all-terrain wheelchair
The free rental of all-terrain wheelchairs gives people with reduced mobility access to our beautiful mountains. From 16 to 22 September be-und-be.org
Bicycle cinema
At the Bike Cinema, the audience produces its own electricity. Watch exciting mountain sports films. On 20 September at 7pm at the PULS youth club, Kankerweg 6, Garmisch-P.
Bike ride
At the bike ride on 20 September. In Garmisch-Partenkirchen, adults and children can draw attention to the needs of cyclists on a coordinated route.
