Sport Conrad Eckbauer Challenge
Back at last!
The fourth edition of the Sport Conrad Eckbauer Challenge will take place between 01/08/2024 and 31/08/2024. Use the meinBerglauf app and the station at the start and finish of the Eckbauer course in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to track your success. Great prizes are waiting for you again this year!

The hardest runner with the most altitude metres will win a Garmin FR 965!
The runner-up will receive a pair of Dynafit SKY DNA running shoes. Last but not least, the third runner will receive a Dynafit Ultra 12 running rucksack in Makarosa/Blueberry and Dawn/Syrah.
How does it work?
From 01 August 2024, you will again have the opportunity to take part in the Eckbauer Challenge again. Together with meinBerglauf.de, Garmin and Dynafit, the successful event is going into the next round. The goal is to is to run the course as often as possible until 31 August 2024.
There is of course also something to win.The Garmin FR 965 awaits the runner who has run the most. The runner-up will receive a pair of Dynafit Sky DNA running shoes. The third place finisher will receive a Dynafit Ultra 12 running backpack. To take part, download the meinBerglauf app and register for Sport Conrad Eckbauer Challenge. This way you can measure and save the distances you have run. You can also see all runs in a live ranking.
Course details:
The meinBerglauf.de course to the Eckbauer is 3.6 kilometres long and includes 500 metres of altitude. From the starting point (valley station of the Eckbauer gondola), the course runs past the Olympic Ski Stadium in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, past the car park to the junction with a forest path behind the summer toboggan run.
The route continues steeply uphill, leaving the trial area on the left, until after a flat section through meadows the forest road turns into a tarmac road that climbs steeply through woods and meadows. For the last few metres, the road flattens out again and takes the athletes to the finish line, just outside the top station of the Eckbauerbahn cable car. The course and GPS data can be found here.
MeinBerglauf - A SUCCESS STORY
There are currently over 50,000 amateur mountain runners in Bavaria. Norbert Kutschera from Murnau immediately recognised the potential. More and more trail runners and speed hikers were meeting him on the mountain - always equipped with GPS watches to record time and altitude.
For Kutschera, an amateur athlete, it was immediately clear: There had to be an easier and better way - some kind of platform was needed! Together with IT expert Robert Gaiswinkler, Kutschera, a state-certified mountain and ski guide, developed a timekeeping system that not only makes it easy to record time, but also creates a real community for competition and exchange between mountain runners.
The myBerglauf app on your smartphone automatically corresponds to the start and finish stations installed on the various routes. Finally, you can compare yourself with other ambitious mountain runners on the meinBerglauf website. The first route on the Piston was successfully tested in June 2016. Eleven other permanent routes are currently in operation on Blomberg (2), Eckbauer (2), Kreuzeck, Wank, Laber, Kolben and 3 routes in Heiligenblut am Großglockner (Mythos Großglockner, Schareck, Rossbach).
