Ziener: accustomed quality, family owned and operated

Ziener is considered as a renowned family business. The brand´s home is the idyllic village of Oberammergau, Germany, which is located at the outskirts of the Bavarian Alps and surrounded by the scenic “Ammergebirge” (a mountain range). The company was founded in 1946 by Franz Ziener sen. and is run today by Franz Ziener jun. in the third generation, with Franz Burig as the company´s director at his side. The result of which is a competent, middle-class, and vintage company with very personal structures and short, internal ways. In the meantime, Ziener has come to range among the leading glove manufacturers in Europe.

Ziener's development, appearance, and responsibility

The entire product development is still taking place in Oberammergau. Ziener´s range, today, covers a multitude of sports. Basically, all needs are covered, like gloves for all disciplines such as skiing, snowboarding, freeride, ski touring, Nordic disciplines, and biking all the way to functional textile lines in all the aforementioned sports.

The company enjoys some precious cooperation on all levels. They are the official supplier of the ÖSV Nordic Team with the ski jumpers, the Nordic combined team, the cross-country skiers, and the biathlon team, as well as the DSV´s freestyle, ski-cross, and alpine skiing team. The Upper Bavarian winter sports specialist furthermore supplies Bulgaria´s National Ski Association, the Czech ski jumping team, the demo-team of Interski Germany, the DSLV, and numerous National Associations and ski schools. A special emphasis is put on the next generation of alpine racers.

Under the slogan of „Made by Pros“, Ziener lives and profits a lot from the input of all people involved, no matter if pro-athletes or amateurs. All experiences and needs are integrated into the gear´s continuous development.

Since the 2014/15 winter season, there is a high-tech, heated glove within the range of gloves, which promises a comfort temperature of up to 40°. This is an ingenious novelty. That way, the developments within the corporation continue consequently and are always future-oriented.

Ziener also accepts its social responsibility. With the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) project, Ziener makes sure that the production sites are integrated and supported with the according performance.

Ziener also particularly focuses on sustainability. In order to fulfill their responsibility toward our environment, Ziener, in many realms, uses a recycled polyester dubbed ECONYL®. This yarn is meticulously manufactured in six production steps by using synthetic materials of all kinds. It is interesting that, for example, in 2015, due to the production of CAPROLACTAM ECONYL®, the emission of more than 170.000 tons of CO2 was avoided. This equals the CO2-emissions of an average car, which circles the equator 30.000 times.
