Lamunt: outdoor apparel for women

LaMunt – By women for women

LaMunt is the premium mountaineering brand by women for women that opens a new, feminine perspective on alpine sports. It is a reinterpretation of the mountain code for women: a fusion where functionality meets aesthetics, created for strong and confident women who also want to express their individuality and feminine side when they are active.

Women who live the mountains in their own unique way and don’t want to compromise on their clothing when they go on adventures. Always keeping an eye on sustainability, thoughtful details and exciting innovations, Smart Fit Solutions, among others, make it possible to adjust the fit of a product to the individual body shape.

The collections are made from materials that have a PFC-free coating. It gives preference to natural fibers and recycled materials because they are renewable and offer functional performance. The focus is not only on the technical production, but also on the people who make the products. For this reason, the new brand is a member of the Fair Wear Foundation from the beginning.

LaMunt sets new standards in sustainability

LaMunt is the first mountain sports brand to use post-industrial recycled cashmere as a sustainable fill for insulated jackets. The thermoregulating properties are ideal for outdoor sports and the ecological footprint is much smaller compared to conventional fill materials.

Mindfulness is at the heart of LaMunt’s approach to sustainability. That’s why the Oberalp Group’s new premium brand has chosen to use only recycled cashmere, as an alternative to goose down or synthetic fillings. The breathable, recycled cashmere fibers are sourced from Italy, where they are processed through a patented process by LaMunt partner Imbotex. This sustainable use of materials and elimination of additional resources redefines luxury and post-industrial waste and points to innovative directions for the outdoor and fashion industries.

Three steps to produce the recycled cashmere:

  •  Recovered materials are collected and sorted in northern Italy.
  • Through a mechanical process they are transformed into very fine fibers.
  • The fibers are mixed with recycled polyester, creating a high performance insulation that is turned into a wadding pad.

This production process is a new milestone for ecological and responsible fashion, giving otherwise discarded, valuable materials a new purpose. The project is under the auspices of the Global Recycling Standard, a certification promoted by Textile Exchange. This well-established non-profit institution has been supporting responsible and sustainable product development in the textile industry for more than fifteen years.
